Our combined Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety management systems ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 run together ensuring specific procedures are utilised. We employ the services of an external consultant who keeps audits and legislation up to date. All procedures are vetted and documentation is professionally checked by qualified H&S Consultants. Many existing and possible future customers including many tendering processes insist a contractor has achieved accreditation to any one of a number of well know Contractor Accreditation Scheme. Our clients may use any one of the main contractor approval schemes of which we continually maintain our compliance.
ISO 9001 Quality Assured Certification
Achieved in 1994 Steve Caunce Limited were of one of the first drainage companies to be accredited to the then BS5750 now known as ISO 9001:2008. With qualified internal auditors all systems and procedures are monitored and audited regularly. We employ an external consultant to ensure we are constantly compliant with new legislation and procedural changes.
ISO 14001 Environmental System Certification
In our line of business we play a vital role in Environmental issues and concerns. In December 2008 we achieved accreditation to the environmental standard 14001. Again employing our external consultant ensures both our EMS system and our QMS system are audited and run together both providing customers with assurances on our Quality and Environmental standards.
Ever aware of the need to conserve the environment and working closely under the procedures and audits of the system and the restrictions of the business we will always aim in reducing our carbon footprint wherever practicable.
Working at all times to our EMS and Environmental Policy ensures our aspects register has all control procedures in place for small oil and chemical spillages, waste disposal and vacuum tanker waste. Other environmental control policies include major oil and chemical spillages and cross contamination of foul and surface water drainage systems.
Under our waste carriers licence we are ever aware of the need to deal with waste material efficiently and correctly ensuring waste is legally disposed of at registered sites and fully documented under our Duty of Care certificates.
OHSAS 18001 Health & Safety Management System Certification
In January 2014 Steve Caunce Limited gained the OHSAS 18001 Health & Safety management certificate. The health and safety of all our staff, customers, clients and members of the public is paramount. Be it working in confined spaces or in a busy shopping centre, the health and safety of all who may come into contact with us as we carry out our work is of the highest importance. Ensuring safe systems of work are in place and all precautions have been taken to minimise risk of injury. Our external health & safety consultant works alongside the management team to prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements for each and every site. Conducting health and safety site and depot audits including health and safety training and re-fresher training given on a regular basis ensures our standards never slip.
CHAS is a nationally recognised and accepted threshold standard for the assurance of buyers with the aim of the scheme being to save time and resources by avoiding unnecessary duplication in competence assessment and the adherence to health and safety for all types of suppliers. Constructionline is proven to deliver for public and private sector organisations alike. It is a common sense approval tool for a company’s accreditation to government standards. Considerate Constructors Scheme
Steve Caunce Limited was awarded a Considerate Constructors Bronze National Company award in 2012. Considerate Constructors seek to improve the image of the construction industry striving to promote and achieve best practice under the code. The code outlines the Schemes expectations and describes those areas that are considered fundamental for registration with the scheme.
The new code of considerate practice applies to all registered sites and companies regardless of size, type or location. Constructors should ensure sites appear professional and well managed, giving utmost consideration to their impact on neighbours and the public. Companies should protect and enhance the environment while maintaining the highest levels of safety performance.
ContractorPlus is a robust contractor health and safety pre-qualification system. It is web based, simple to use and cost effective. Annual assessment is necessary.
This accreditation is achieved on levels of dynamic performance Health & Safety, Environmental Management systems monitored internally and externally to demonstrate performance and facilitate review procedures. The adaptability and dedication to providing long term business partnerships. Annual assessment is necessary.
All of the accreditations have rules and regulations that we ensure are put into practice with the everyday running of the company with our well maintained training schedule being a major part of this. Training is commenced immediately on employment and refresher training is obtained when due. Such measures give confidence to all concerned importantly to our employees but also to the customer and ultimately our management.
We employ the services of specialist training agencies to train our onsite operatives in varied job specific training. This includes to name a couple high pressure water jetting, high risk confined space training to City & Guilds standard. CSCS, Road & Streetworks Act, Asbestos Awareness and First Aid.
All personnel are issued with a company handbook for reference which provides them with back up information to all their training.
